The Other
Comedy By: Nathan Crockett Rating: Mature Venue: Black Box Theatre A dark comedy about the voice in your head that makes you feel less than. ‘The Other’ is a 50 minute show about the little voice in your head that makes you feel like you’re less than. This show explores how having an unhealthy relationship with it can lead to a feedback loop of self-hatred and self-destruction and the only way through the negative relationship with yourself is having connection with others. Directed by Bryan Sandberg, written by Nathan Crockett, and performed by Nathan Crockett, Elainna Noble and Jonathan Top ‘The Other’ uses elements of clown, quippy dialogue and a hint of drama to tell the story of Daniel, a computer game programer, stagnant in life who is struggling with the voices in his head manifesting as the physical form of ‘The Other’. Will Daniel be able to find what he needs to break out of the cycle or will The Other reign supreme? Nathan often thinks about how his ‘Other’ influences him to make poor decisions in work and relationships and how miserable it makes him sometimes. However, upon reflection, Nathan can’t help but laugh at how illogical and borderline silly some of the things his anxious ‘Other’ makes him do. It’s amusing to him the mental gymnastics his “Other” puts him through to make these illogical things happen although it is painful at that moment. Nathan hopes to shed light on the audience’s ‘Other’ with the same essence of comedy he feels when he reflects on these moments and hopes the audience can learn to laugh at their own Other as well. Show Times: Saturday, March 22, 1 pm Saturday, March 22, 9 pm Sunday, March 23, 5pm Ticket Link: https://www.showpass.com/the-other/ |
